ЗАДАНИЕ 1. ЧТЕНИЕ Прочитайте текст. Определите, какие из приведённых утверждений соответствуют содержанию текста (1 – True), какие не соответствуют (2 – False) и о чём в тексте не сказано, то есть на основании текста нельзя дать ни положительного, ни отрицательного ответа (3 – Not stated). В поле ответа запишите одну цифру, которая соответствует номеру правильного ответа. Holidays in Great Britain Every nation has its own holidays, traditions and customs. It’s very important to know them. It helps to find out more about the history of different nations and know people better. English people are proud of their traditions and carefully keep them up. Christmas is celebrated on December 25th. It is the most colorful holiday and the most beautiful time of the year — the time of love, joy and hopes. Most big cities are decorated with coloured lights across the streets and beautiful Christmas trees. The biggest Christmas tree is in Trafalgar Square in London. Christmas Day is a family holiday. Little children believe that when they are asleep Santa Claus comes with a big bag of toys. They often hang up large stockings for the presents by their beds. All families have Christmas dinners. They eat traditional dishes — turkey, duck, pudding. The 26th of December is called Boxing Day, because many years ago the day after Christmas people traditionally went to the church. There were special boxes in churches and they usually put money in them for the poor. On this day people usually visit their friends or relatives or watch TV. In England New Year’s day is not as popular as Christmas. It is usually a family party. It begins at 8 pm and goes on until the early hours of the morning. Some people send New Year cards and give presents. Good Friday is the Friday before Easter. It’s a religious holiday. On this day people eat hot-cross buns — buns marked with a cross on top. May Day is the first Monday after the first of May. It is celebration of the coming of spring. Spring Bank Holiday is a time for people in Great Britain to have a day off work or school. It falls on the last Monday of May. All banks, offices, factories and shops are closed. If the weather is fine many families take a picnic-lunch or tea with them and enjoy their meal in the open air. Summer Bank Holiday (in August) marks the end of the summer holidays and the coming of autumn when people begin their daily routines. |
