The Dancing shoes

(1) “Oh, dear, I wish they would stop,” cried Kay, who was getting quite tired. At last she managed to unite the ribbons on the shoes, and the shoes went dancing away into the woods.
(2) As Kay went home, she passed a man playing a music box. A pretty dancing tune was coming from the box, and suddenly, Kay found herself dancing beautifully to the pretty tune.
(3) Then Kay noticed it was nearly tea time. “I must go home,” she thought. But do you know something, Kay didn’t walk home – she danced. The shoes would not stop dancing.
(4) “If it hadn’t been for your beautiful dancing, people would not have given me so much money,” he said. And he gave some to Kay – enough for her to buy new shoes. Lucky girl!
(5) Once there was a girl named Kay. Her mother sent her to buy new shoes. As she went into the shoes shop, she saw some red dancing shoes. Kay decided that she would try them on.
(6) Round and round she danced. “I have never danced like this before,” thought Kay. “It must be these special shoes.” Soon lots of people were watching her and putting money in the man’s hat.
(7) The red dancing shoes fitted perfectly, and although they were not what her mother had sent her to buy, she bought them. “They are special dancing shoes as you will find out,” said the man.
(8) On and on danced the shoes, leaving Kay feeling rather worried. “I have wasted the money mother gave me to buy some shoes,” she said to herself. Then the old man with the music box hurried up.
